"Evaluation of Marginal Mucosal Conditions Around Oral Implant With Simplified Oral health Index (OHIS) " (Clinical Study)
Abstract
Introduction: The differences in supporting structure of the implant make them more susceptible to inflammation when plaque accumulates as compared to the teeth. therefore, a comprehensive maintenance protocol should be followed to ensure the longevity of the implant.
Methods: We evaluate the patients oral health according to accredited index like Simplified Oral Health Index (OHI-S) and index used to assess of Marginal Mucosal Conditions Around Oral Implant (MGL) .The sample consisted of 100 patients of Syrian subjects in Tishreen-university in lattakia
RESULTS: The mean value of the OHI-S index was 2.11 , It indicates to a normal oral hygiene ,The mean value of marginal mucosal conditions around oral implant was 1.21. we used Chi-Square Tests and (p- value =0.000<0.05 )
Conclusion: After osseointegration, Implant maintenance and effective patient home care have been emphasized as two critical factors needed for long-term success of dental implants.
