التوافق بين اختبار خيط الفينول الأحمر و اختبار شيرمر في جفاف العين

Abstract

الهدف: قياس التوافق بين اختبار خيط الفينول الأحمر واختبار شيرمر في اكتشاف العين الجافة.

المرضى و الطرق: شارك في الدراسة 264 مريضاً من المراجعين للعيادة العينية في مشفى الأسد الجامعي. تم إجراء الاختبارين على عين واحدة بفاصل 5 دقائق بينهما. كذلك تم استجواب المرضى عن أعراض جفاف العين. تم تحليل النتائج بوساطة اختبار غابا لتقييم التوافق بين الاختبارين.

النتائج: كان اختبار شيرمر ايجابياً عند21  % من المرضى وكان اختبار الفينول الاحمر ايجابياً عند 26% من المرضى. نتيجة اختبار غابا بين الاختبارين 0.71 مما يشير لتوافق جيد بين الاختبارين بينما نتيجة اختبار غابا بين كل من الاختبارين وأعراض جفاف العين كانت بين 0.14 و 0.21 مما يشير لتوافق ضعيف بين الاختبارين و أعراض جفاف العين.

الاستنتاج: يوجد توافق جيد بين اختبار خيط  الفينول الأحمر واختبار شيرمر وهناك توافق ضعيف بين كل من الاختبارين وأعراض جفاف العين.

Aim: To measure the agreement between Schirmer’s and phenol red thread tests in detecting dry eyes.

Patients and methods: 264 patients attending the ophthalmology clinic in the Alassad university hospital participated in the research. Each patient had one eye examined by both tests in a random order. The interval between the two tests was 5 minutes. Dry eye symptoms were also assessed. The data were analyzed using kappa statistics to assess the agreement between the two tests.

Results: Schirmer’s test was positive in 21% of patients. Phenol red thread test was positive in 26% of patients. Kappa results was 0.71 for the agreement between Schirmer’s and phenol red thread tests which indicates to a good agreement between the tow tests.   Kappa were 0.21 and 0.14 for the agreement between each of them and dry eye symptoms which indicates to poor agreement between each test and symptoms of dry eye.

Conclusion: There is good agreement between Schirmer’s test and phenol red thread while there is a weak agreement between each test and symptoms of dry eyes.
