The aim of the study: study the relationship between  internet addiction and smokingMaterials and Methods: The study sample included 200 students of internet addiction at Tishreen University between the ages of 18-28 years, as well as a sample of non-addicted students in terms of number, age group and gender. We used Young's 20-item Internet addiction test (IAT) to collect and divide the sample into an addict and non-addict, Students who scored (0 – 49) were considered non-addicted to the Internet, and students who scored (50-79) were considered close to addiction and they were within the exclusion criteria ,and who scored (80 -100) were considered as addicted students, Smoking was investigated for both the studied sample and the control sample. Results: The percentage of smokers in the study sample was 55.0% compared with 30.0% in the control sample, These differences are statistically significant (P <0.05). While there were no statistically significant differences with regard to the effect of student sex on Internet addiction (P> 0.05).

Conclusions: We noticed that the prevalence of smoking among addicted students is increasing compared with non-addicted students. The average number of male and female addicts was very close.
