Analysis of Reference Citations in the Doctoral Theses Granted by the Faculty of Economics, Tishreen University from 2007 to 2015: a Bibliometric Study

Abstract

 This study aims to analyze the reference citations in 76 PhD theses which have been granted by the faculty of Economics, Tishreen University from 2007 to 2015 According to the degree of citation in the traditional and electronic sources; in addition to the substantive, formal, and linguistic distribution of it. The study used the Bibliographic-Bibliometric method as an appropriate method for this type of studies. The results of the study indicated to the control of the traditional information sources in terms of form by more than 80%. And control of the books to the traditional and electronic information sources both by more than 46%. And the control of the E-journals to the electronic information sources by more than 39%. The Economic and Administrative Sciences have covered the substantive dispersion of the cited journals by more than 60% of the reference citations in terms of the objective coverage. Arabic language has also controlled in terms of the linguistic coverage by more than 66%, while the coverage of the foreign languages was less than 34% only.
