Abstract

The town of Al-Masmiya is considered one of the oldest villages in this region, having passed through multiple eras, including the era of the Romans and Greece. Between the plain and rough and the springs surrounding it on each side and are called the eyes and they are many and many and some of them have not yet been discovered under the rubble as they were subjected to successive earthquakes that destroyed this town and then it was rebuilt after the Islamic conquests and its old construction of deafening basaltic stones roofs its homes with long arches and stones called the pulse Also, it was rebuilt after the Islamic conquests, because the area of ​​Al-Lajat was one of the large bushes surrounding this town, and its fruits are numerous from olive, fig, oak, oak and other trees in that era, and the evidence for this is the presence of sidewalks that surround the roots of trees. This town has a strategic location in the Islamic era through which a road called the sidewalk or the pilgrim road that comes from the city of Damascus and goes towards the Hejaz and after the Ottoman occupation of the country passes through it also took great care of it and built its famous castle and several castles around it from what is called the Karakun any prison and the Ottomans established the railway which is a railway Hijaz that passes by and built a station to transport passengers and transport goods and agricultural materials to the city of Damascus or to the Hijaz called the Hijaz Line.
