Petrographic Study of Basalt Rocks at the Sites of: Damkas, Terkeb, Ras, al-Deir (Safita sheet) / NW Syria

Abstract

This paper Presents a Petrographic study of basaltic rocks at installed sites of Damkas- Terkeb-Ras-Aldeir, it is part of the volcanic eruptions in the Safita geological sheet, Which is located in the southern section of the coastal chain, Northwestern Syria. The types and petrographic patterns of Neogene basaltic rocks (N2b) were identified in the study area, by studying them with a polarizing microscope.

It was found that basaltic rocks in the study area of ​​age (N2b), it was accompaniment with form the Al-GAB rift and it is basalt rocks are lightgray composed of the following petrographic  types: Olivine basalt, vascular Olivine basalt, Baselt, vascular basalt.
