The Pillars And Test Stations Of The Syrian-Iranian Alliance And Its Future Prospects
Abstract
The research aimed to shed light on the foundations of Syrian-Iranian relations. Then the alliance between the two countries since the beginning of the inter-relations after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979 until now; the study focused on the real test stations that the Syrian-Iranian alliance was exposed to, as well as predicting the future of the Syrian-Iranian alliance after the war on Syria.
The research reached the following results:
Syrian-Iranian relations have evolved from relations of rapprochement and understanding to relations of a long-term strategic alliance, based on joint defense of the interests of the two countries against external threats.
The Syrian-Iranian alliance is based on a set of basic pillars: Including: the geopolitical location of Syria and Iran; The emergence of unipolarity after the dissolution of the Soviet Union; And their joint adoption of the Islamic resistance movements; As well as the coalition's success in bypassing its survival test stations; Especially the Iran-Iraq war, the Zionist invasion of Lebanon in 1982, the American occupation of Iraq in 2003, the July 2006 war on Lebanon, and the global war on Syria; Which confirms its survival and continuity.
