Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the risks of private investment in infrastructure projects, as governments around the world follow policies to involve the private sector in the provision and financing of infrastructure services due to problems related to financing and management.

The study relied on the analytical approach by identifying the most important risks facing private investment in infrastructure projects and classifying these risks.

The study concluded that the risks of the private investor in the infrastructure vary between political risks and the business environment, macroeconomic risks, regulatory risks, technical risks, and the degree of risks that the private investor is exposed to when investing in infrastructure projects varies according to the stage the investment is going through. (the construction phase or in the operational phase), the study concluded that the private sector’s participation in infrastructure projects is based mainly in addition to the previous risks on the prevailing investment climate.
