inflation targeting(study of brazilian case 1990-2024)

Abstract

Inflation has become one of the most important problems facing monetary policies at the present time and in many countries of the world, especially after World War II. In a relatively recent step to solve this problem and its economic consequences, there has been a trend towards applying inflation targeting since the nineties of the twentieth century. In this research, the researcher presents a presentation of the concept of inflation targeting, including its definition, requirements for application, reasons for its application, and the negatives and positives of this policy. She also presents Brazil's experience in applying the inflation targeting policy in an attempt to present the practical concept of this policy and benefit from it.

The descriptive analytical method was used for the most important information mentioned in Arabic and foreign books and references, articles and periodicals issued in the field of research.

Reports and accounts issued by global data centers such as UNCTAD and the World Bank were also reviewed to collect the necessary data for the study.

The researcher reached results that confirm the success of Brazil's experience in applying inflation targeting and achieving the desired goals of curbing and stabilizing the inflation rate and maintaining the economic growth rate and economic stability.
