Abstract

International events that occur close to the states geographical location or directly on its borders undoubtedly affect more in determining its political positions, of those events, which may entail the state to take a lot of political, economic and social measures, which affects the determination of its foreign policy, and this in turn determines to a large extent the strategic location of that state.

One of the reasons for the interest of the great European powers in dividing the territorial inheritance of the ottoman state was its strategic location at the meeting point of the main lands and seas, and the important transport and trade routes that meet in Istanbul, for this reason the ottoman Empire played the role of a land bridge and the role of a castle standing at the crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa.

This geographical reality, just as it was the source of the ottoman Empires strength when it was at its height, became a site of interest and ambitions for external powers when this state began to deteriorate and weaken.

The strategic importance of the properties of the ottoman Empire on the one hand and their economic importance on the other hand made them the focus of attention of the European colonial countries, especially Britain and France, and the policy of neutrality that followed during the First world War from the conflicts in the world, as well as the geographical distance, but trade was the main motivation for the beginnings of the American intervention in the ottoman Empire as well as the provision of loans, aid and missionaries, and all of these methods were in the interest of American trade.
