Social Skills Included in the Content of the Science Curriculum for the Fifth Grade in the Basic Education Stage in Syrian Arab Republic

Abstract

The current research aimed to know the degree of inclusion of social skills included in the content of the science curriculum for the fifth grade in the basic education stage, and to achieve this goal, a list of social skills included in the content of the science curriculum for the fifth grade was built based on the classifications of researchers in the field of social skills, and then presented to a number of members The faculty at Tishreen University for arbitration, and it was judged, so the final list consisted of five skills and thirty-one indicators indicative of these skills.

The researcher used the content analysis method (one of the methods of the descriptive approach), and the tool consisted of a content analysis card, which was designed based on a list of social skills to analyze the content of the science curriculum for the fifth grade.

The results showed that the content included (5) skills out of (5) social skills included in the list. The skill of arrangement, order, communication skill and human relations were the most frequent compared with cooperation skills that were the least frequent. The results also showed a lack of gradation in the percentages of including a number of skills.
