Intertextuality in the poetry of Al-Kumait bin Zaid Al-Asadi
Abstract
Intertextuality is one of the phenomena of creative poetic language, and many writers have taken a position in support of this phenomenon and interacted with it, including the poet Al-Kumait bin Zaid Al-Asadi, who used intertextuality of its various types in his poetry.
Intertextuality had a conscious structural presence in his poetry. It contributed to consolidating its meanings and enhancing its poetry, which made it an effective, functional intertextuality full of guiding connotations, due to its reliance on the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Hadith.
The intertextual parts in Al-Kumait’s poetry have become living words that have taken on an extensional meaning that suits the poet’s era, and has made intertextuality a component of the poetic discourse.
The poet derives the contents of many of his verses from religious tributaries, filled with many behavioral and human values, which made them an open door to many semantic and cognitive fields stored in the poems of the Diwan, transforming them from constructive language into preaching language.
