La victimisation : une technique de désinformation dans les journaux français en ligne
Keywords:
Keywords : victimization, emotion, disinformation, speech, press.Abstract
This article aims to analyze a technique used by the French press to manipulate events
concerning the war in Syria by relying on three French electronic dailies. In fact, the
French media have always used disinformation to weaken an adversary and
manipulate opinions to their advantage. Our analysis focuses on a very important
discursive process adopted by the French press, which is "victimization" through
which the journalist tries to touch the affect of the recipient when he shows (innocent)
victims presented in large numbers for example. In our research, we adopt a
theoretical conception developed by the French linguist Patrick Charaudeau from the
point of view of discourse analysis. Our analysis focuses in particular on press articles
relating to the demonstrations that took place at the beginning of the war (between
2011 and 2012). It also covers the alleged chemical attacks in Alghouta in 2013, as
well as the alleged chemical attacks in Khan Sheikhoun in 2017.
