The problematic meanings of prepositions in the grammarians
Abstract
This research explains the meanings of prepositions and the disagreement between the syntax schools that dealt with them. It attempts to handle the question resulting from that disagreement represented in the multiple meanings of the same preposition. This multiplicity of meanings is exaggerate, and also in the assumption that facilitates the comprehension of the structures and does not seek to uncover the secrets of their uses. The research takes a critical attitude to many of those meanings trying to control them in a very healthy scientific way. And it refutes the claim that there is no alternation between this prepositions. It also clarifies the fact of implication which comes as an answer to alternation claims and reveals misunderstanding, confusion, contradiction in dealing with the preposition meanings and the lack of interest in its big role that reinforces the rhetoric side to many of the syntactic structures.
