Abstract
This study includes 42 newborn infants contracting infections from the incubator department; their ratio is (47%) of all department infections during the study period. Fatality ratio is (28.57%) of all cases. The hospital contracted infections are clearly associated with prematurity, low birth weight, and long hospitalization. Septicemia without localization is the most frequent manifestation. Gram-negative organisms, especially Klebsiella, are the most common bacteria .Using the combination (ceftazidime+ vancomycine) as an empirical treatment is effective in controlling hospital contracted neonatal infections, and in maintaining recovery in (78.38%) of cases; imipenem is able to control infection in all cases where the last combination has failed.
