Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the safety of the use of the crescent modified metal

matrix and its ability to isolate and achieve an appropriate continuity between

dental tissues and subgingival restorations and its ability to preserve the gingival margins,

so that aesthetic and functional requirements can be obtained by recontouring the gingival margin and Zenith points by applying direct composite veneers.

The study confirmed the capacity of the crescent metal matrix used

during the application of direct composite veneers to isolate effectively the gingival sulcus exudation,

and the study also concluded that the crescent metal matrix is an important factor in

preventing the contact between the restoration and blood. The crescent metal matrix

showed that it is a very important factor in achieving the continuity between the composite veneer and the surface of the tooth. It was found that before applying the composite veneers, Zenith points were distributed equally (50% correct and 50% incorrect), but after applying the composite veneers the number of correct zenith points was increased up to 90%, meaning that the application of the crescent metal matrix clearly contributed to returning Zenith points to its correct positions.

The study recommended using the crescent metal matrix to isolate the gingival restoration and composite veneers from the gingival exudation. The study also recommended using the crescent metal matrix during the application of direct composite veneers due to its ability to isolate and achieve continuity between with the dental tissues and the veneers. The study recommended to use the crescent metal matrix during simple gingivectomy as it contributes to gingival margins recontouring.
