Abstract

The research aims to identify the degree to which school psychological counselors appointed in the schools of Lattakia (the second section) possess counseling skills from their point of view. A research tool is built, which is a list of the counselor's skills, which dealt with the basic skills required by extension work, in addition to asking an open question about the difficulties that limit the guides' ability to apply them. The research reached a set of results indicating a high degree of possession of counseling skills from their point of view, and the results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between mentors according to the variable of the number of years of service and the variable of academic specialization

Among the most important difficulties that the counselors face is the shortage of training courses and the small number of counselors in one school, in addition to an increase in the number of students and the lack of clarity of the real role of the counselor on the part of the educational process parties.
