Syrian Association of Libraries & Documents A Pilot Study

Abstract

This study tends to monitor the role of the Syrian Association of Libraries and Documents during the period 2017-2020. The researcher has followed the methodology of case study since it abides by the topic of the research. The participations and activities of the association have been spotted to acknowledge its role in improving the quality of the profession via miscellaneous apparent practices. While collecting the scientific material, the researcher has also relied on a bibliography that contained a few questions directed to the chair of the association and other senior members. The findings disclose the great role of the association in improving the intellectual vision of the specialty of libraries and information in Syria; as it has played a role in upgrading the position of the profession to meet the expectations of the specialists through establishing a few workshops, symposiums and conferences. The researcher recommends the necessity to avail a special office to the association, and to recognize a role for the association to play in devising a strategic plan to the Syrian libraries so that their role and effectiveness seem well-advanced.
