Evaluative study of class-teacher preparation program in the College of Education in Tishreen University from the viewpoint of fourth year students
Abstract
The study aims to evaluate class-teacher preparation program in the Faculty of Education in Tishreen University from the viewpoint of fourth-year students. The study used the descriptive method. A standardized questionnaire which is the study tool has been distributed on a random sample of 200 students (males and females). The questionnaire addressed a number of areas related to the curriculum, the skills gained from the program, the importance of these skills for the teaching profession, the ability of class-teacher education program courses to develop teaching skills, satisfaction with the program, and finally program development. The program tool was implemented at the end of May, the academic year 2012- 2013 before the second semester exams, and after they finished their Practical Education course and discussion of their graduation projects. The arithmetic mean, the relative weight and (t) test were used to compare between the averages for the analysis of the study results that showed the importance of practical and applied courses for theoretical subjects. It also showed fourth year students' satisfaction on members of the teaching staff and college program and that the program has a demonstrated capacity to develop positive attitudes and necessary skills to practice teaching profession. It also showed students' need to technological and computer skills . The results showed that the Practical Education course promotes some teaching skills with a proposal to increase the number of teaching hours of the course. The study recommended to pay attention to the practical applications and the technical and professional skills and the need for continued review and evaluation of class-teacher preparation program to meet the needs of the teacher.
