Abstract
This paper discusses some common ideas of Plato’s political philosophy. It shows that what is known about Plato’s political thought is only the first phase of his political thinking. The philosopher's final position almost completely reverses what is commonly known about him. This research focuses on three common key points about Plato:
First: Plato’s theory says that power must be exclusively restricted to the philosophical.
Second: the division of society into three groups, two of which are prevented from practicing politics and dealing with public affairs.
Third: Plato has a negative attitude towards the law and constitution and he calls for an exercise of power through the direct intervention of the philosophers relying on personal intuition and not on a set of written laws.
