Abstract

This study aimed to measure the level of environmental values among Tishreen University students، and to investigate the differences in the level of these values according to variables: Sex، place of residence and specialization. The researcher used the descriptive approach and the research tool was an environmental values questionnaire، which prepared by Darwish (2001). The researchers studied the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The questionnaire had been applied to a random sample of 959 students at Tishreen University in Lattakia.

The results of the study indicate that the level of environmental values among university students is good، falls within the preferred degree (it is the third level)، but does not reach the highest level of commitment to value (it is the fourth level)، The results also indicate that there are no differences in the level of environmental values among students according to sex variable However، there are differences according to the variable of the place of residence، where it was shown that rural students have a higher level of environmental values than students of the city.  In addition، there were no significant differences in the level of environmental values by university specialization. The differences were limited to law students who showed a lower level of environmental values than those of the Faculty of Education، Pharmacy and Civil Engineering.
