Abstract

Leadership attributes are one of the distinctive characteristics of the personality of football coaches, which in turn will reflect positively on the performance of their leadership work in the field of training efficiently, which contributes to achieving the optimal performance of players, this study aimed to identify the most important leadership attributes of coaches from the viewpoint and desire of players, Classifying the leadership attributes of the coaches according to their preference among the players, and identifying the most important features that the Syrian player wants to have in the coach who leads him.

The researcher used the descriptive method in the survey method on a sample consisting of (123) players from the clubs that participate in the professional league, at a rate of (56.94%) from the research community, through a survey designed by the researcher, which consists of (40) leadership characteristics, and the study reached to that the Syrian soccer players prefer a coach who is distinguished by the attributes of intelligence, honesty, integrity, experience with training, responsibility, self-confidence, fairness, ambition, and ability to make decisions, patience and optimism in a noticeable way, and that the attributes of honesty, integrity, experience with training, and intelligence are in the forefront of the attributes that Players prefer it, and the attribute of honesty and integrity are on top of the attributes in terms of the overall degree, and that the attribute of intelligence is the attribute that occupied the top in the order of attributes in terms of the number of preference options.
