Abstract

The correlation of litho- stratigraphic columns between Coastal Range and Baer-Bassit areas shows the different in its stratigraphic distribution and its thicknesses. Where Paleocene-Lower Eocene sediments are dominating at Baer-Bassit area while it is locally representing in Coastal Range area where Middle Eocene is dominated. This situation is relating to factors: heritable structure in the region in post Maaastrichtian ophiolitic obduction, relative change in sea level during Paleogen and the domination of extensional tectonic system in Eocene time. A model of sedimentalogical and tectonic evolution was framed in the light of the factors which confirmed in the fieldwork, and agreed with the data of litho-stratigraphic columns in the region.
