Abstract

     The research aimed to identify the degree of the practice of transformational leadership of the heads of academic departments from the point of view of faculty members and its relationship to their morale in the Faculties of Education and Agriculture at Tishreen University. The research community included all (183) faculty members in the Faculties of Education and Agriculture at Tishreen University.                                           

 Among them are (69) faculty members in the College of Education, and (114) faculty members in the College of Agriculture in the first semester of the academic year 2022/2023 AD.                                                                  

    They were distributed according to the variables (gender - college - academic rank - number of years of experience). The researchers used a questionnaire consisting of two parts. The first part: included (the definition of the questionnaire), while the second part: consisted of two axes; The first axis: dealing with the areas of transformational leadership, and it included four areas: (influence and attractiveness - inspirational stimulation - intellectual stimulation - individual interest), bringing the total number of the questionnaire items to (46) items; As for the second axis, it dealt with morale, and it consisted of (24) items, bringing the final number of the questionnaire items to (70) items.                                                                                                   

  The researchers used the descriptive approach, and the results showed the following:

 -The degree of practicing transformational leadership for department heads from the point of view of faculty members in the Faculties of Education and Agriculture with its four dimensions came according to the following order: (inspirational motivation with a large degree (68.3%), followed by intellectual stimulation (62%) and influence and attractiveness (55.3%) with a moderate degree Then the individual interest (51.2% came in a weak degree), and the results also showed that the morale level of the faculty members was average (61.9%), while the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average scores of the faculty members’ responses about the degree of practicing Transformational leadership of the heads of departments according to the two variables: (gender - academic rank), while there were statistically significant differences according to the variables (college) and in favor of the College of Agriculture - owners of (long experience in teaching), while there were no statistically significant differences about the level of morale of the heads of departments in my college Education and agriculture according to the variables: (sex - college - academic rank - number of years of experience).                                                        

The research confirmed that there is a positive correlation between transformational leadership and morale.
